This is the situation not only many Americans are facing, but also the citizens of most other Western States: democracy is only on paper, basically you can call it fake-democracy; Putin had a word for it: "conducted democracy". And you can bet, it's not conducted by the people but by a small group of wealthy men usually called oligarchs.
