Reason Underfunded

Just a few days ago:

Why is it that this day has been totally ignored by the mainstream media around the globe? Type into some internet search engine "Global Day of Action on Military Spending" and you won't find any major news media platform mentioning this UN "action day". If there happened to be an "action", hardly anyone took notice, except some peace organizations and NGOs. Is it so unappealing that Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon greeted the day by saying

“The world is over-armed and peace is underfunded”

Is it that unimportant, boring or irrelevant when the UNODA (United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs) announced the following:

"Global military spending continues to grow. According to the data provided by 66 Member States to the UN last year, in total, they spent 1.22 trillion dollars in 2010. According to the World Bank, less than 5 percent of that sum would be enough to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, lifting all people out of poverty."

Yes. This is just totally negligible for the infotainment.
